Illustrative renderConcept study 04 of 05 · Kitchen
A sculpted range hood in polished Venetian plaster, limewashed walls, and microcement where it splashes.
This is a concept, not a finished client project. The pictures are illustrative renders of work we can do; when we finish a job like it, its real photographs will be under Projects.
- The system
- Range hood. Venetian lime plaster, layered and burnished
- Walls. Limewash, brushed in crossing strokes
- Backsplash. Concretta FS microcement, sealed with PlasterGuard
The range hood becomes the room's centrepiece in polished bone-white Venetian plaster. The walls around it move softly in limewash, and the backsplash behind the range is seamless microcement: plaster where it is seen, microcement where it is splashed.
On site, in order
- 01Protect the kitchen; prepare the hood surround and walls
- 02Venetian plaster on the hood, coat by coat, then burnished
- 03Limewash on the walls; microcement on the backsplash
- 04Seal the backsplash
Worth knowing
- The hood surround is plastered over a sound, prepared base; the hood insert itself is the appliance's.
- Limewash is chalky and completely matte. It is not for the splash zone, which is why the backsplash is microcement.
