Los Angeles
baa atelier finishes walls by hand across Los Angeles: a single feature wall, a whole house, or a studio, shop or restaurant. Most of the projects on this site are here.
Made for Los Angeles light
Los Angeles light is strong and clear for most of the year, and it rakes across a textured wall from low windows in the late afternoon. That is what shows the movement in a troweled finish, and it is also what makes a glossy wall glare.
So the matte finishes do a lot of the work here. Limewash is the least reflective finish the studio applies and suits rooms with strong direct light; Roman clay gives depth without shine. In the dry months, and when the Santa Ana winds blow, lime finishes can dry faster than they should, so the timing of each coat matters as much as the colour.
Finishes for Los Angeles
- Limewash The least reflective finish: calm in rooms that get strong direct sun.
- Roman Clay Earthy depth for living rooms, bedrooms and entries; sealed, it suits kitchens and restaurants.
- Venetian Plaster For a powder room, dining room or bar back where the wall is meant to be the event.
- Microcement Seamless bathrooms and floors, applied over existing tile without stripping the room back.
- Marmorino Catches light and takes cleaning: entries, retail and hospitality.
- Tadelakt Showers and basins in one continuous waterproof surface, with no grout.
Also in Los Angeles: Intonaco, Tonachino, Béton Ciré, Stone Effect, Travertine Plaster. And beyond finishes: interior detailing and renovation.
