Marmorino plaster in Los Angeles
A Venetian lime plaster polished to a low marble sheen. Harder and more reflective than Roman clay, with visible depth under the surface rather than on it.
What it is
Lime and graded marble dust, applied in thin coats and compressed with a steel trowel until the aggregate closes and the surface takes a polish. The sheen is burnished into the plaster, not a varnish over it.
Where it works
Entries, dining rooms, retail and hospitality — anywhere a surface should catch light and be looked at. It is more durable than a matte finish and takes cleaning better, which is why it turns up in commercial rooms.
What to expect
More passes than Roman clay and a longer day on site. The polish is a range, not a switch: we agree how far to take it on a sample, because the difference between satin and near-marble is decided by hand.
